I am currently working for a company at Chicago,IL on OPT (Optional Practical Training) period which is of one year. I have graduated as Electical Engineer from NJIT,NJ this year and is authorized to work during the OPT. Unfortunately the OPT is ending on 11th February, 2007.
I applied for H1B through the same company at Chicago but missed it as the CAP was closed by 28th August, 2006. Hence, I am currently working on the OPT work authorization.
I am aware that I will be out of status after February 11th at the end of my OPT tenure. I am planning to re-apply for H1 with the same company again well in time next year. As I will be out of status until I get my H1B application accepted and approved possibly by October'07, what are the best options available for me to legally stay here in USA with a valid status during the period until October 2007. Time is short and I needed to work out some thing quick.
I shall be grateful to any one who could send in your valuable advise.

Hi
My husband does not have an H1 stamp in his passport even though he has been in status since he did not go to india,right now he has got 3 yr extension on the basis of an approved I-140 petition,we are going to india to get our visa stamped next month.
Can anyone advise me whether not having a previous H1 stamp in the passport will create any problems for us in getting stamped now.He was on an L1 visa before converting to H1,he has not gone to india since 2002.

A lot of people have filed on July 2 and still haven't received their FP notice while my husband and I filed July 6 and we're scheduled for FP tomorrow. My brother who filed on July 26 also received his FP notice last Friday. USCIS is really unpredictable nowadays so who knows how long it takes to generate FP notices. Hopefully you'll get yours soon too. :o

If you can go out of the country and return on L1 the new I-94 will take effect. COS should not impact, An attorney can advise better on this.

In the instructions to file EAD they say to print name and alien receipt number on the back of the photos.
What number should we write? I-485 receipt number or receipt number for last EAD?

Does anybody have any experience using this camera in the studio? If so, what lighting equipment are you using. The manual only says to use Canon flashes or equivalent, which aren't going to cut it. I'm not that familiar with trigger voltage (250V) and don't want to fry the thing. Any responses would be greatly appreciated. What I'm looking for is a brand of lights that would work with E-TTL. Thanks

In my opinion, one of the more intriguing product announcements from Nikon today was the Coolpix 8700. If it improves significantly from the Sony, that could be a killer product. Right now, Canon is lacking a bit in the true consumer DSLR market. But then again, PMA is right around the corner. The Sony has Zeiss glass and 28mm WA. But the CA and Noise are horrible. Isn't the Nikon 8700 has same sensor size as the Sony 828? Wait and see how the Nikon performs in those deaprtments!

#2 is my favorite. I find myself pondering where the steps might lead. You composed them very well into the scene. I cannot believe how low these anti-immigrant groups can and will go to push their point, which obviously is nothing but full of BS, but it certainly adds fuel to the fire.

I have a curious situation. I have filed EB3-485 as a secondary applicant to my wife. I am currently in a job where I can't file a green card ( this is my 5th year of H1b). My understanding is one can't have a seventh year extension for H1b unless his I-140 is approved.
Should I consider changing the job and filing another GC by myself. I know I can continue renewing EAD but I still want to keep my H1b

your I-140 approval or receipt number with your I-485 application copy.

I am applying for my EAD/AP renewal. The received date on my I-485 notice is Aug 2007. According to USCIS, if you filed after July 30 2007, you are not required to include a Fee.
I am looking at my receipt notices and I feel like I payed under the old fee structure and should include the fee. Here are the amounts
I-485 : $395.00
I-765 : $180.00
I-131: $170.00
Can someone please advice if I need to include the fee for AP and EAD renewal.

I think it is Aug 17th or afterwards and in new fee structure you do not have to pay for the renewal.
