Just bought a 1tb Seagate Desk external hard drive and in an effort to try and hide it, I'm modifying a shoe box to house it nicely. If anyone else has some sort of special set up for their external drive(s), post a picture of it here!

I keep getting the message "unable to find cellular network flashing on my phone almost every time I open up to create a text. It goes away after about a second and then I can write or read.
This since 4.3.
Anyone else?
Also battery way down.

Don't the movie studios operate as commercial businesses? Don't they make a profit (overall - some movies flop I know)?
They couldn't affort to spend $100M/movie if they didn't get the money back!
Therefore, iPod sales are 'extra' income for them.
I know that there may be some drop-off in theatre ticket sales if the same movie is available via iPod sometime in the future, but don't they face this now with DVD sales?
It may be simplistic, but why not hold back offering the on-line sale of the movie until they have exhausted the 'theatre experience' the way they do with DVD sales, and then get ready for the '2nd wave' of additional income.
I agree that you should pay for what you have, but I also think you should get what you pay for without excessive restrictions. Yes, electronic media differs from physical media and some rules should be different, but the underlying principles stay the same.

Except that iPod/iTMS sales would represent, generally speaking, the loss of a DVD sale. They would love, I am sure, to ONLY sell through iTMS and similar services, assuming:
1) They sold the same number of copies,
2) They had the same or great profit margin, and
3) They had better/stricter copy protection.
On that note, I'm still amazed no one has reverse engineered the iTMS video copy protection scheme. I hear DVDJohn has done it, but is using his powers for "good" (well, his good) and selling it to companies who want to offer DRM'd video for playback on iPods without going through Apple.

Hi all,
Just added a 4.8 GHz i7-2600k folding -bigadv (~ 49000 ppd) to my MacRumors contribution.
This is being helped by:
3.8 GHz i7-860 folding -smp 7 -bigadv ~ 22000 ppd
2.8 GHz i7-860 folding -smp 6 ~ 8000 ppd
3* GTX 460 ~ 32000 ppd combined
1* GTX 430 ~ 4000 ppd
All running in wine under Ubuntu 10.04
Hopefully I can maintain a reasonably stable 100k ppd, at least until the weather gets warmer when the graphics cards will have to stop.
Rob
nice! thanks for sharing that! it's nice to see what hardware people are folding with.
i am having trouble with another system now after the move. my last overclock isn't working now for some reason, so back to square 1 again. hopefully i can get it back up again.

You didn't search deep enough ;)
Hehe - yeah you got me :D
Just purchased a 9700 pre flashed for Mac for about 4 more than a standard PC card. Was too good to pass up. That and 666Sheep's point that it runs cooler.
Ram has not arrived yet but it is coming from Canada so I'll not complain too much.
Just cant find 10.5 for less that 90 odd (US$160) :(

Hey guys,
I originally bought an mbox mini and upgraded to Pro Tools 7.4.2.
In my account on digidesign (Avid Audio)'s website I can download various installer packages and the authorisation codes. However it only goes up to Tiger, and Leopard.
I was wondering , if I upgrade to Snow Leopard. . .does the 7.4.2 version of Pro Tools LE for Leopard run on SL?
Thanks a lot :)

Because of hardware limitations. I have an old HP laptop running Windows 7, doesn't mean it can run Crysis.
Well what do you expect? You cant reliably expect old hardware to run new software.

Among Samsung's patents that Apple allegedly infringed, there's this one:
U.S. Patent No. 6,292,179 on a "software keyboard system using trace of stylus on a touch screen and method for recognizing key code using the same"
Which Apple product uses a trace of stylus???
So doesn't the Nintendo DS infringe in this stylus patent as well??

Well Amazon started selling Beatles CDs for 7.99 each right after iTunes got the Beatles Catalogue. Pretty much below cost but a lost leader for them.
I don't see why Apple would care. They get paid by the retailer.
It cheapens their product and pisses of their retailers.
Isn't there some kinda law against price fixing like this?
No but as stated before, if a chain is undercutting others then the manufacturer can choose not to sell to that retailer.
