I don't know how the Order Status page on Apple's site works in other countries, but in the US if the item ships separately, there's a separate tracking number with each item, otherwise it will say "preparing for shipping or "not yet shipped".
I would think calling Apple would probably provide more answers than calling the shipping company.
I called Apple and TNT to let them know, now they are calling each other :)
I clearly have one tracking number for both items, yet when tracking this number on TNT UK site, I get 2 items, one being delivered.
I guess I should get my iMac tomorrow, but I will still keep on Apple and TNT back till then. The whole thing is weird, I bought many computers from Apple Online Store and never had such issues.

i'm pretty shocked by Acer's recent announcement. (http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20110408PD213.html) this is the first time i've heard a pc manufacturer switch from differentiating on price to product value... an Asian firm too! my ancestors must be rolling in their graves :D all jesting aside, a 1.5% - 2% operating margin is pretty bad. a slight hiccup in their operating expenses will give them negative cashflow.
the only high(er) margin product i can think of in the PC space right now is Lenovo, but they had the advantage of taking over a highly regarded and successful product line from IBM. i wonder how Acer will approach re-branding their company that has largely been known for making cheap laptops.

And if next year half of new ones uses displayport, is it still useless?
Yes because its maximum resolution is 2500x1600 and DVI already satisfies that, it doesn't really matter at this point. It doesn't transmit audio like HDMI. Honestly the only benefit to it, is the increased distance it can run (15m).

What can we expect for price ranges, is the yonah going to be more expensive for apple to buy and integrate than the ppc?
And I would assume there would be a jump in prices to begin with, being a new- top of the line product. Or am I crazy..

I was getting ready for work when the attacks happened. I did not hear about them until I was in my car driving. I was listening to an alternative rock station often known for pulling pranks, so when they first said the US was "under attack" and that both WTC buildings and the Pentagon had been hit by commerical airliners, I thought it was a sick joke done in poor taste... you know, like War of the Worlds or something.
I quickly switched to NPR and heard the same report and I then realized it was true. I went to work - at the time I was an operator in the tech support department of a software company. We received very few calls that day and most of my dept alternated between checking news sites (when we could reach them) and a TV in the other room. The few calls we received were from international customers, many of them offered their condolences. I don't think we received one call from an American customer that afternoon.

Well, Pages can open and edit and save .doc files, and Keynote can do the same with .ppt files.
But formatting and the such can be an issue. NeoOffice/OpenOffice handles .doc and .ppt formatting better, from what I hear. I've never used OpenOffice extensively, so I wouldn't know.
But see, that's just it. If we're working back and forth on .docs and .xls's, we can't have ANY formating problems - they've got to match. AND I'm not going to jump through any hoops by using this or that piece of software to make it happen. Don't have time - gotta produce!

Every iPhone thread leaves me amazed at how complacent Americans are in accepting terrible mobile telephony. When's the last time (in Europe) that you had a "dropped call"? I had to look up the term because it meant nothing to me. If the iPhone is going to work properly, then someone needs to give assurances that your calls will actually go through. Forget about downloading songs on the go for a moment, and consider the intended purpose of a phone. If I want to make a call, it means that I need to get through and actually end up talking to someone; not that I want to try to call someone. Don't get me wrong, I'd love an iPhone. I'm just glad I live in a country where your calls go through, and stay going until you terminate it. And what's with this paying for incoming minutes thing? The payment should be the responsibility of the person doing the calling. At least, that's how it seems to work over here.

4.3. Or 4.3.1. I would take either one right now. Prob the same for 99% of iPad 2 users.

After all my googling and all my research before beginning my bootcamp journey, I came to the conclusion that I would be forever unable to use my bluetooth keyboard to hold option at startup and bring up the choice of which partition to boot into. However, after stubbornly trying it a few times, I got it to work. I dont know if this has been working for a long time or if a whole lot of people know about it, but I do know a post like this would have saved me a lot of time before figuring it out on my own. For those who care, this is how i did it.
I'm running late 2010 imac i7.
1. Have the computer turned off. Restart would work, im sure, but the timing would be harder.
2. Push the power button on the computer.
3. IMMEDIATELY after pushing the power button on the comp, push it on the keyboard so that the green light turns on and tap some buttons to get it to connect. (I used option..dont think it really matters, or actually if this step is necessary, but this is what ive been doing and its worked several times.)
4. Hopefully having accomplished this before the chime, press and hold option as soon as you hear the chime begin, and if you have the same luck I've been having, the dual boot menu will come up.
Thank god i can put away the usb keyboard again. Like I said, I dont know if i sound like an idiot right now because everyone already knows this, but I felt an obligation to at least put it out there.
Note: I couldnt get the mouse to connect the same way, but no biggy because you can use the arrow keys/enter to choose the partition.

Another shameful twisting of the facts by 5p.
By the way, the bulk of billy's money is now the property of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. They do have some control over it but it's no longer his and in a way, is a "National Resource".
All rights are irrevocably connected to responsibilities. Why is that so difficult for libertarians to understand?

Searching for a used MacBook with CS5 MS already installed (they are out there, but I semi question the legitimacy of some as they have no media included, just preinstalled), and I am starting to also question on whether finding one with CS5 is really important if my main purpose is to learn Xcode, write iPad apps, and teach my oldest girl how to do the same. For those of you with CS5, how useful is it for App creation? What other applications should I be looking at with those goals? I have found I can get a decent 2.4ghz dual core with 4GB ram plus HD for around $400 (without CS5). Thanks!
You don't need the Master Suite at all. There might be an argument for getting Photoshop and Illustrator but anything else is a complete waste of time.
Having said that if you ever plan on branching out into web development the Master Suite becomes more useful (although personally I'd go with Web Premium in that case).

I was working at home in London that day. I remember taking a break for lunch about 1.30. When I'd eaten, I clicked on the BBC news site just to see what was happening in the world and couldn't get through which is really unusual. I just thought their server was down and went back to work.
About 20 minutes later, I started getting calls from my friends outside London, asking if I was OK and telling me to leave the city just in case it was the next target since no-one knew what was happening. I turned on the TV and sat in front on BBC News 24 for the rest of the day in stunned shock. I remember watching the people jumping from the top of the towers and the absolute horror when the towers collapsed. It felt like a bad movie plot.
Worse was the thought that this was only the beginning of the day and were there any other targets planned? Would the next newsflash be about Sears Tower, the TransAmerica pyramid, Canary Wharf, Frankfurt's financial district etc

If you want to write a 2D game and you're familiar with Objective-C then I think you want to be using the cocos2d framework. I've found "Learn iPhone and iPad Cocos2D Game Development" to be a valuable resource.

Do you make money with that machine?
I use a 2009 MBP (17") and upgraded the RAM to 6GB (more will follow) and an SSD and it is quite a snappy machine in PS CS5 with 12MP RAW photos. An ix-core MBP will be faster in calculating effects, thus if you do a lot of effects work that take five seconds on your current MBP, they will take two to three seconds on a newer MBP.
lol no I don't make money on this system, seems like the better option is B. I've already got a 64gb SATIII SSD, would that be enough for PS5 as well as lightroom?
