I feel like a addict. I'll kiss a man for my jailbreak.
I know people are working hard to get it done, and there is no one who appreciates their work more than I.
There're creative ways to show your appreciation, kissing a man might not be enough motivation. Bust out some knee pads, then turn 'round, it ain't nuthin' but a butt ache; everyone cries their first time.
Take one for the team and git'r done.

I don't even notice the rating, and on the rare chance I do, the negative/positive rating has no bearing on the content of the thread, so in the end I ignore it.
I guess what I'm saying is, that rating doesn't really provide any benefit.

good to be back.
damn dude... :eek:date = 03.30.08 points = 21,937 work units = 16
don't care if it's just servers/credit catching up, 22k in one day is cool no matter what! :D great job.

i agree with LeeTom.
Additionally, I called AT&T yesterday. The cap hill store had no idea on quantities, although I'm sure they've gotten their shipment today at the latest. The downtown store told me they didn't know quantities but were allocated more than any other at&t store in the pacific northwest.
i'm thinking i'll try cap hill first, if the line is too long, i'll make the short walk down the hill.

I think there is a good chance IBM will supply the G4 for Apple at some point. There may be contracts with Motorola we don't know about, so who knows when it would happen? Since IBM will have their 0.09 process working next year, a G4 from them may go over 2 GHz. :)
Motorola is also to be getting 0.09 with their new partnership or whatever it is. But that is Motorola. Likely Apple's chips will be the last to go 0.09, if ever. :(
So IBM may be the Mac's brightest hope for the PPC chip family.

I'm in the process of redesigning our local access station's web site. I'm just about finished, except for a program guide system. Currently, the "program schedule" page is simple HTML, but there are a number of problems with this system.
First off, the person who updates the schedule is by no means a web designer, and the page slowly deteriorates as tweaks are accidentally made while updating.
Secondly, the new site is designed to show the current day's program schedule on each page. It would obviously be a royal pain to update this manually using HTML, so we're looking for some sort of PHP calendar system to integrate into the site.
What we need is a simple PHP/MySQL calendar system that will allow us to integrate a daily schedule into a sidebar, and set up a program grid on the main schedule page. (See http://www.ictv.org/sections/schedule/schedule.php)
As in the above example, we'd like the program name to link to that show's page.
I've looked around for a few days trying to find a good system, but haven't had much luck. I don't know if there are any PHP "program guide" scripts out there, but I would think there would be some sort of calendar that could accomplish this job.
I should note I know a little bit of PHP/MySQL scripting - enough to do some *minor* tweaking to a simple script, but I'm by no means fluent with it. Bottom line- the less scripting I have to do, the better.
The current version of the site can be viewed here (http://www.parhosting.com/~cctv/). (We haven't transfered our domain to the new server yet, hence the subdirectory setup.) The weather sidebar is a placeholder for the program schedule. I appreciate any suggestions or advice, so thanks in advance to anyone who can point me in the right direction! :)

Likewise; there are a few of us on here, but not nearly enough. This release date is perfect for me as I had planned on taking the 26th off anyways since I have some extra vacation days to use before the end of the year. Figure I might as well make the trip up to the store and see what it's like for a product launch. :)
Lucky for you, get there early so you can get one of those t-shirts. :D
A t-shirt sounds better than those dog-tags that i ended up with for the Tiger Release.

you want it to make all those noises?? http://www.vwvortex.com/zeroforum_graphics/screwy.gif
in any case, read the above post, that should take care of it.
I don't really want the sounds, but they are helpful for troubleshooting. Also, if something is wrong with the modem, I just want to know about it. I could take the thing back to Apple if it's not working properly.

Can anyone recommend a cheap - but passable (hotmail and yahoo accounts don't work with this) email provider?
Why? I need a dummy account I can use in online signup forms so that all spammers send there, instead of my real account.
Boy, it'd be nice if DOTmac would provide something like this - a 'shadow' account.

I heard they may will do reservation system like they did with iphone. not sure if its true or not.
am very curious if we have to do overnight, or just come in the morning and wait.
I'm sure they'll to reservations, just like the original iPad.
For some reason Apple Retail Stores will not sell an iPad 2 until 5:00 PM on March 11. So people may not stay the night, however that was always half the fun.

Hi all. This is my first time posting here and I'm looking to buy my first Mac and I'm considering a 2.4ghz Mac Mini so that I may use it as a HTPC connected via HDMI to a 50" Samsung 720p 60hz Plasma.
I want to be able to use both DVDs, media stored on the internal/external hard drive, networked media.
My main question is will the Mac Mini display well on the 50" Plasma? The next question is I plan on using Plex. Does Plex support AVI, MP4, MKV files with ease?
Thanks for any support all! :)

Giving my '08 Mac Pro a new lease of life with a SSD. 3'5 (so I won't have to worry about sleds etc.) I'm going for a clean install, but is there any special considerations regarding formatting I should be aware of?
This is the drive;
OCZ Vertex 2E Bigfoot 120GB 3.5" SATA-II
Should I install in windows first to update firmware?
EDII read this post which has got me thinking it going to be difficult
http://joshuablount.com/posts/2011/clean-installing-snow-leopard-on-your-ssd-considered-harmful/
I installed directly from the disc onto an OCZ Vertex 2 3.5" 120GB. However, I did not use the retail Snow Leopard disc, I used the 2010 Mac Pro disc that came with the computer. It might have newer drivers than the retail disc. Heck, newer retail discs might have newer drivers than older retail discs.
I don't update the firmware. I don't like to mess with things that work to my satisfaction.
However, as I recall to update OCZ firmware, you need to have Windows to do firmware updates and you cannot update an SSD that you booted from, so there are certainly some challenges to overcome.

Yes, but we don't exactly know when that will come out. Look for it AFTER Vista (if that can happen) ;)
I would be willing to bet big money that MS Office Universal Binary is ready to go right this minute.
There is no way Monkey Boy Balmer is going to let the Mac Business Unit release it before Vista and the New Windows' version of Office!
Can you imagine the press release - "Well we are pushing back the release dates of Windows Vista and Office. We want to make sure that it is absolutely perfect. However, we are releasing Microsoft Office Universal Binary for the Apple OS X operating system". It just ain't gonna happen
