If they really do discontinue the 12" and do not replace it, there just might be a price drop.

Over the course of time, mobiles will displace consoles.
We can already mirror the iPad 2 onto HDTVs. Not the best news for dedicated consoles. It's not perfect, but it's a powerful portent. Dedicated devices (as opposed to convergence) are destined to DIE.
iCal this. Then in 2-3 years revisit this comment and be astounded.
not going to happen
Mass Effect 2 is on 2 DVD's for the x-box and a blu ray for the PS3. the iOS version of ME sucks in comparison. a new generation of consoles will be released starting this year and going into 2012 and expect MS and Sony to have blu ray. that's 50GB per disc and hard drives with almost a TB will probably be available to load your games on the console
there is no way iOS can compete with that unless the devices get huge bump in storage

Assuming your categorical variables are factors, you can use them integers, or call as.integer. When creating the factor, you can determine the sequence with levels()
> clrs <- factor(c("red", "green", "blue"))
> clrs
[1] red green blue
Levels: blue green red
> as.integer(clrs)
[1] 3 2 1
> clrs <- factor(c("red", "green", "blue"), levels=c("red", "green", "blue"))
> clrs
[1] red green blue
Levels: red green blue
> as.integer(clrs)
[1] 1 2 3
> r <- rnorm(10)
> r

That is not strictly true. The MS purchase of Apple shares was little more than a token gesture to show that MS still believed in the company.
Not really. Microsoft had no reason to show that they "believed" in Apple. The investment was a condition of legal settlement. See post #98.

And if that mobjority decides that they want to take all the wealth of a certain group of people, that's their right to do? Since they have a majority? It's pretty easy to get support from a majority of people to take other people's money and distribute it to them. It's just not moral. Your position is that individuals have zero moral, legal, or otherwise claim to the wealth that they themselves work for/earn?
I don't think we're ever going to have a shortage of wealthy and powerful people; even authoritarian government have their share of plutocrats. I also question the notion that the acquisition of wealth is always assumed to have been legitimately "worked for" or "earned". ENRON, Madoff, the banks during the credit crunch...
At any rate, you're putting words in my mouth. We all collectively decide how to govern ourselves, and it's not always the case that a simple majority is enough to implement changes to the status quo. Also, it has been demonstrated time and time again that a small number of wealthy and powerful people can get their way in the face of overwhelming opposition from less wealthy and powerful people. It cuts both ways. You seem to be trying to characterize any increase in taxes on the rich as a form of theft perpetrated by the rest of the nation; that's a very twisted take on the concept of taxation.
In the end, your attempt to create sympathy for the wealthy rings hollow.

What time do you plan getting there?
I don't know, I was thinking 4am would guarantee a first spot. I don't know what the previous launches looked like.
I do know that 2 weeks after the 3G came out I was waiting in line at 6am on Saturday morning.
The mall opens its doors at 7am and they said the food court doors are opened first.

Hi,
Im thinking about buying a Mac Mini. I was going to opt for the non server version and get the 2.66ghz processor and the upgraded hard drive to 500GB.
My question is, is it a worthwhile upgrade? or is it just better to leave it with the 2.4ghz and get a better hard drive.
Regarding the hard drive, are you able to buy a faster one ie, one that runs at 7200rpm and put it in the mac mini yourself. I have heard that the drive in the Mac Mini is a slow hard drive.
What is the biggest hard drive that will work in the Mac Mini?
Many Thanks

Please disregard the fact that I created an account on MacRumors out of desperation, or that you've probably heard of this before.
The situation is that I've had this First Generation iPod Touch. I've jailbroken it, it crashed once, I restored it, I used it until it crashed again. This time, I can't restore it.
1. I was reading around, (basically a post right before mine) and I found TinyUmbrella, as my iPod was stuck in the recovery state. I'm gonna see how it goes.
2. I don't remember too well, but before I tried fixing it, it was in the infinite Apple state.
3. I tried to do a regular restore. At this, I received: "unable to restore, unknown error code (6)".
-With this, I reinstalled iTunes.
-I tried to restore on a different computer.
-I switched USB ports.
-I restarted the computer.
-I turned off firewalls.
-I turned off AVG.
4. I entered DFU mode and I tried to do a regular restore. Same error code.
5. I downloaded some firmware and tried to do a restore. OS 1.1.4 gives me error code 1601.
-From time to time I get error code 1600.
-So I reinstalled iTunes.
6. I tried after reinstalling, same firmware version FOR the first generation, now I get Error 20.
-I've tried to fix, it doesn't work.
Uh, help? Appreciations to all.
Cheers.

First, get the Dazzle device out of the system. You don't need it for this task at all. It's used for converting analog video to digital video.
Connect your camcorder directly to your Mac using the appropriate Firewire cable.
Turn on your Mac and the camera. Make sure the camera is set to VTR (play mode) and also set to output via the Firewire port (Firewire ports may also be labeled as: iLink, DV, DV I/O and IEEE 1394).
The camera will NOT show up =(mount) on your desktop. However, your chosen NLE app should "see" the camera and be able to capture from it IF you have the correct capture settings for the type of footage you recorded.

Apple should think realistically now about allowing legitimate Fairplay licensing.
Here in the UK, websites are being forced to use DRM by content providers. The only option currently available, thanks to Apple's pigheadedness, is Windows DRM. So Mac users are being increasingly locked out of web services such as live broadcasts, radio stations etc. simply because we don't use Windows. Give the content providers another solution with Fairplay licensing and maybe Mac users won't get so marginalised.
They may not have noticed in Cupertino, but Windows DRM is locking people into Windows just as effectively as Fairplay is locking people into iPods. Apple are allowing Microsoft to get a foothold in a market that Apple should own by now.
